When the ASHE Group was awarded the contract to carry out a full refurbishment of the pitched roof at Herts & Essex School, AMA Scaffolding was brought in to provide specialist access solutions. The project involved removing old roof coverings and installing new roofing materials, underlay, battens, and precision leadwork. For this work to be completed safely, efficiently, and on time, a secure scaffolding system was essential.

From the outset, AMA Scaffolding worked closely with the ASHE Group to design and install a scaffolding layout tailored to the school’s layout and the roofing team’s needs. The 20-week programme required a robust structure that could give contractors safe working platforms while accommodating the phased nature of the works.

As the project took place in a live school environment, safety and minimal disruption were top priorities. AMA Scaffolding planned installation schedules to avoid peak school times, ensuring deliveries and scaffold erection caused no interference with students and staff. Protective features such as debris netting and designated safe zones were incorporated to safeguard the school community while work progressed overhead.

Throughout the project, AMA provided more than just the initial scaffold installation. Our team remained on hand to adapt and modify the scaffold as the roofing work advanced, adjusting heights, adding lift levels, and creating new access points when required. This flexibility allowed the ASHE Group’s roofing team to maintain productivity and meet deadlines without compromising on safety.

By the end of the 20 weeks, the roof refurbishment was completed on schedule and to a high standard. AMA Scaffolding’s proactive approach ensured uninterrupted, safe access for the duration of the works and helped minimise the project’s impact on day-to-day school activities.

This project is another example of our ability to deliver tailored, safety-driven scaffolding solutions for complex, high-profile works. Working alongside the ASHE Group, we provided the secure and adaptable access that made it possible for the roofing team to complete this challenging project successfully.
