The Project
AMA Scaffolding was appointed by Spyker to provide scaffolding for Ralph Lauren’s flagship London store on Regent Street.
Situated on one of the capital’s busiest shopping streets, the project required careful planning to protect the public, maintain access to the store and minimise disruption to surrounding businesses. The work was completed over six weeks while the Ralph Lauren store continued trading.
Working in a Busy Central London Location
Regent Street experiences exceptionally high levels of pedestrian traffic throughout the day. This made public safety, controlled access and full health and safety compliance essential at every stage of the project.
Our team carefully planned the scaffold erection and ongoing work around shoppers, store employees, nearby businesses and deliveries. The working area was kept secure and well managed, allowing pedestrians to move safely past the property.
Liaising With the Council
AMA Scaffolding liaised directly with the local council to arrange the necessary permission and licence for the scaffold.
The licence included strict noise restrictions, requiring noisy work to be completed by 1pm. Our team organised the programme around this condition, completing the relevant work within the permitted hours and helping to reduce disruption to shoppers, businesses and nearby occupants.
Careful scheduling allowed the project to progress efficiently while remaining fully compliant with the conditions set by the council.
Keeping Ralph Lauren Open for Business
A key requirement was to ensure that the store’s prominent display windows remained visible and unobstructed throughout the project.
We used 450mm aluminium beams to span the shopfront and avoid placing standards directly in front of the windows. This maintained clear sightlines into the store, preserved the appearance of the Ralph Lauren displays and allowed customers to continue entering and shopping as usual.
The lightweight yet strong aluminium beams provided the necessary structural support without compromising the store’s visibility or daily operations.
The Result
The scaffolding remained in place for six weeks, providing safe and reliable access while Ralph Lauren continued trading from its Regent Street flagship store.
By coordinating with the council, observing the licence’s noise restrictions and designing the scaffold around the shopfront, AMA Scaffolding delivered a solution suited to the demands of a busy luxury retail location.
The project demonstrated our ability to provide commercial scaffolding in high-footfall areas where public safety, regulatory compliance and business continuity are equally important.
