Roof Replacement & Access Scaffold at Brompton Army Barracks, Chatham

Roof Replacement & Access Scaffold at Brompton Army Barracks, Chatham

Location: Brompton Army Barracks, Chatham
Sector: Military / Heritage Estate
Client: CGA Associates
Project Duration: 45 Weeks

Project Overview

AMA Scaffolding was appointed by CGA Associates to provide a scaffolding solution for roof and skylight replacement works at Brompton Army Barracks in Chatham. The project involved long-term access requirements and specialist installation methods to support the works safely over a 45-week duration.

Due to the scale of the roof replacement, a large crane was utilised to install roofing trusses. This required careful planning and coordination alongside the scaffold design to ensure safe access and installation throughout the project.

In addition, an A-frame scaffold structure was constructed to support a printed CGI screen, forming part of the overall site requirements.

Our role included delivering the scaffold design, erection and dismantling, with the scaffold remaining in place for the full duration of the works.

Scope of Works

AMA Scaffolding delivered a designed scaffold solution to support the roof and skylight replacement project.

The works included:

  • Scaffold design for roof replacement works
  • Access scaffold for roof and skylight replacement
  • A-frame scaffold structure for CGI screen
  • Coordination with crane operations for truss installation
  • Full scaffold erection
  • Scaffold in place for 45-week duration
  • Safe dismantling upon completion

The scaffold arrangement was configured to support the roofing works while accommodating the crane installation process.

Crane Installation of Roofing Trusses

A large crane was used to install roofing trusses as part of the roof replacement works. This element of the project required careful planning alongside the scaffold installation to ensure access and lifting operations could be carried out safely.

The crane plan was incorporated into the project planning stage, allowing the roofing trusses to be installed in line with the programme.

A-Frame Structure for CGI Screen

As part of the project requirements, AMA Scaffolding constructed an A-frame scaffold structure to support a printed CGI screen. The structure was built in accordance with the provided design and formed part of the overall site arrangement.

The A-frame structure remained in place alongside the main scaffold during the project duration.

Project Duration

The scaffold remained in place for 45 weeks while roof and skylight replacement works were carried out. AMA Scaffolding maintained the structure throughout the programme before returning to site for dismantling once the works were completed.

Outcome

AMA Scaffolding successfully delivered a designed scaffold solution for the Brompton Army Barracks project in Chatham. The scaffold supported the roof and skylight replacement works over the 45-week duration.
