High-rise buildings present unique challenges when it comes to cladding remediation, and secure access is one of the most important factors in making projects run smoothly. At Highfield Towers in Romford, the Lawtech Group were tasked with carrying out specialist cladding remediation works, and AMA Scaffolding was chosen to provide the scaffolding solutions needed to make it possible.
The project involved a multi-storey residential block, where safety, precision, and speed were all crucial. Our role was to design, supply, and install scaffolding that would give the remediation teams full and secure access to the external elevations of the building. This meant creating a solution that worked for high-rise cladding replacement, provided stability in all weather conditions, and protected both residents and workers throughout the ten-week programme.
At the start of the project, AMA Scaffolding conducted a detailed site survey to assess the access requirements of the building and the safety considerations of working at height in a live residential environment. From there, we developed a scaffolding design that wrapped around the structure, giving safe working platforms to every elevation and ensuring materials and tools could be handled securely at height.
One of the key challenges of this project was maintaining resident safety while allowing remediation works to progress efficiently. We worked closely with the Lawtech Group to phase scaffold erection in a way that minimised disruption, with protective features such as debris netting, edge protection, and designated safe zones in place throughout. By managing these elements carefully, residents were able to remain in their homes while the works progressed without compromise to safety or comfort.
Over the course of the ten weeks, our team provided ongoing support to adapt and maintain the scaffolding in line with the remediation works. Adjustments were made to suit the contractor’s workflow, including modifying access points, platform heights, and loading bays to allow for the movement of cladding panels and other heavy materials. Regular inspections and compliance checks ensured that every scaffold section met strict safety standards and remained secure from start to finish.
The project was completed on time, with the cladding successfully replaced and the building brought in line with modern safety and fire regulations. AMA Scaffolding’s contribution was central to achieving this, providing a safe and reliable access system that gave the Lawtech Group’s remediation teams the confidence and efficiency they needed.
