Location: Ralph Lauren flagship store, 169–173 Regent Street, London, W1B 5TQ
Client: Spyker
End client: Ralph Lauren
Project duration: Six weeks
Services: Event staging, protective screen scaffolding and advertising structures
The Project
AMA Scaffolding was appointed by Spyker to provide a purpose-designed event structure for Ralph Lauren’s sponsorship activities during the Wimbledon tournament.
The installation formed part of a high-profile promotional event at Ralph Lauren’s flagship Regent Street store. It needed to provide a safe, practical setting for television production, interviews, photography and branded product advertising.
Raised Event Staging
We constructed a raised staging platform to create a dedicated area for the event. The platform provided a professional and clearly defined space for presentations, interviews, photographs and promotional activity.
A purpose-built stairway was installed to provide safe access to the platform. Protective handrails were fitted around the stairs and raised areas, helping to safeguard event staff, guests and production teams.
The structure was also designed to accommodate Ralph Lauren branding and product advertising, making the scaffold an integral part of the event’s visual presentation.
Protective Screen Scaffold
AMA also erected a specially designed protective screen scaffold behind the staging area. This created a controlled backdrop for television filming, interviews and professional photography throughout the Wimbledon campaign.
The scaffold was fully clad in green screening, providing a clean and consistent background that could support different production and promotional requirements. The screening also helped separate the event space from the surrounding environment.
Stability and Structural Safety
Because the protective screen created a large surface area, wind loading was an important consideration within the scaffold design.
Heavy stage weights were installed as specified by the design to act as ballast and prevent the freestanding structure from overturning. The correct positioning and loading of these weights ensured the screen scaffold remained stable throughout the six-week installation.
Every part of the structure—including the platform, access stairs, handrails, screening and ballast—was installed in accordance with the approved design and relevant health and safety requirements.
The Result
The completed installation provided Ralph Lauren and Spyker with a safe, stable and visually effective setting for their Wimbledon sponsorship event.
The raised platform supported live event activity, while the green-clad protective screen created a suitable backdrop for interviews, television production and photography. Integrated access, railings and carefully calculated ballast allowed the structure to remain safely in place for the full six-week duration.
This project demonstrates AMA Scaffolding’s ability to deliver specialist temporary structures for high-profile retail events, combining scaffold engineering, public safety and branded presentation within a busy Central London setting.
